If you’re reading this post, you most likely know what WritingChallenge.org is all about. If not, you can learn about it here.
After the Writing Challenge founder, Kristy Acevedo, and #SeptWritingChallenge leader and romance novelist Samantha Garman appeared with me on A Writer’s Journey podcast, the three of us decided we should start a podcast especially for the Twitter Monthly Writing Challenge community.
So here we are. In spite of a couple of minor audio issues, we hope you will enjoy this first podcast. (Scroll to the bottom of this post to stream or download.)
Highlights from the show —
Kristy mentioned this tweet about a questionnaire for character interviews:
Stumbled upon very cool #character development questionnaire – http://t.co/ZtAPNGl7mf #amwriting #SeptWritingChallenge
— Amalie Cantor (@AmalieCantor) September 10, 2014
I mentioned a favorite book from which I have gleaned a ton of great ideas for novel-planning:
Outlining Your Novel by K.M. Weiland (Follow K.M. Weiland on Twitter at @KMWeiland)
Samantha mentioned this blog, which features several articles about platform building for writers:
Platform Building and Marketing for Writers (various posts) – Sarah Negovetich (Follow Sarah Negovetich on Twitter at @SarahNego)
A couple of us writing challengers posted about beginnings and endings:
When to Use a Prologue by Sara Whitford
For those of you at the end, or beginning: Writing Unforgettable Endings http://t.co/bB4YV0iqXS via @tweetonsisters #SeptWritingChallenge
— Heather Jackson (@HeatherJacksonW) September 9, 2014
Towards the end of the episode, I asked Sam about her experience with blog tours. She mentioned her experiences and referenced a post on her blog, which you can find here:
Blog Tours — and why I’ll never do one again by Samantha Garman

K.D. Armatrading (@kdarmatrading)
And last, but certainly not least, Sam, Kristy and I would like to extend a huge thank you on behalf of the entire WritingChallenge.org community, to K.D. Armatrading for being the most encouraging participant in our community. K.D. has even been called our Official Writing Challenge Head Cheerleader! Be sure and stay plugged in for the #OctWritingChallenge, when K.D. will take the reins from Samantha Garman.

This was great – look forward to the next one!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Dave! 🙂
Already downloaded! Will listen to this as soon as I can. Good job guys! I just knew you were cooking up something like this 😀
🙂 Thanks for listening!
This was a great addition to the writing challenge! I agree with Sara — all the levels of experience we have in this writing community are a real benefit to those of us who are not as accomplished. I am humbled by the shout out. Thank you so much! I’d be interested in an episode focused on the benefits of and mistakes to avoid when starting a blog. I’m just starting to put all my ideas together for mine, but would love to hear tips and cautions about “rookie” mistakes. Thanks!
I think your idea about an episode with tips on starting a blog sounds like a great idea! Definitely right up my alley. 😉 Thanks for the suggestion!
Hey! Sara, yes, you said my name correctly. 🙂
And yes, I’m the head cheerleader for cheerleading about K.D. Armatrading! Her yahoos, hoorays, and you can do its kept me going on days when Muse wanted to put her feet up and eat chocolate ice cream.
